PEPC Worldwide today proudly announced the introduction of the International Newspaper KiOSK, PEPC’s self-contained interactive kiosk, in Mexico. With the installation of a International Newspaper KiOSKat the prestigious Sheraton Maria Isabel in Mexico City, PEPC has now launched its innovative newspaper-on-demand service in ten countries around the world. At the touch of a button, international travelers can currently print the latest edition of 77 newspapers from 38 countries. Among the daily available newspapers are leading publications such as the International Herald Tribune, USA TODAY (USA), the Los Angeles Times (USA), Sports Nippon (Japan), El Pais (Spain), Il Giornale (Italy), Die Welt (Germany) and El Economista (Mexico).
Located in high traffic areas such as hotel lobbies and airport concourses, the International Newspaper KiOSKis fully automated and receives the newspaper files continuously through satellite transmission. This assures readers the latest edition of their hometown newspaper wherever they are. Easily accessible, international travelers can use a credit card or a KiOSK-card to access and print their favorite newspaper through a user-friendly touch-screen. The selected newspaper, digitally printed in tabloid size, is a black and white, stapled, edition with which the reader is familiar in both layout and content.
“The starting point of PEPC’s operation was offering the latest edition of local newspapers to international travelers throughout the world”, says Raoul Maphar, CEO of PEPC Worldwide. With the Mexican installation PEPC now offers its service in five continents, making the company’s original vision become a reality.”
After an extensive field test at 10 hotels in The Netherlands, PEPC started the international rollout of the International Newspaper KiOSKin October 2001. Since the first US-installation at the Sofitel Miami, PEPC has introduced the kiosk in Thailand, Hong Kong, The United Arab Emirates, The Netherlands Antilles, The United Kingdom, India, Indonesia and now Mexico.
PEPC’s local Dealer, Gruppo Proveedor de Hoteleria, installed the first Mexican International Newspaper KiOSKat the Sheraton Maria Isabel. The 755-room hotel is one of Mexico City’s finest business hotels and is conveniently located on the main thoroughfare of the famous Zona Rosa business and shopping district.
