PEPC HISTORY

PEPC, acronym for Publishers Electronic Printing Concept, was founded in December 1999 by a group of five young successful Dutch businessmen. They devised a plan to sell newspapers from a self-contained printing kiosk. This machine would download and print the latest editions of newspapers from around the world.

After intensive research from international marketing specialists and technical assistance from IBM, PEPC, financed by private investors, developed several prototype machines. Publishers sent test files to a control center in Amsterdam. Once received, PEPC transmitted these files to the prototype machines via satellite. The experiment worked!

The next step was to set up a virtual private network system to collect operational and financial data from each machine.

The initial group of five, assisted by subcontractors, developers and system-management employees further developed the hardware, software and infrastructure satellite network. By the end of 2000, PEPC moved its headquarter and Control Center from Amsterdam to The Hague.

PEPC completed the development and field-testing of all PEPC machines, now known as PRESSPOiNT. The company grew to 40 employees, and renamed itself PEPC Worldwide.
