With today’s installation of the PRESSPOiNT™ at the Marriott Hanbury Manor, Ware, Hertfordshire, PEPC (Publishers Electronic Printing Concept) has now launched its newspaper-on-demand service in the UK. The PRESSPOiNT™, PEPC’s self-contained interactive kiosk, currently prints, on demand, the latest edition of 70 newspapers from 37 countries around the world. Among the daily available newspapers are leading publications such as the International Herald Tribune, USA TODAY (USA), the Los Angeles Times (USA), El Pais (Spain), Il Giornale (Italy), Die Welt (Germany) and El Economista (Mexico).
“The UK is ranked in the top five of the international tourism earnings league and we’re very pleased that we’ve gained a foothold in this challenging market,” stated Raoul Maphar, CEO of PEPC Worldwide. “Starting in England, I expect a successful continuation of the rollout of our concept in the UK market.”
The 161-room Marriott Hanbury Manor has a significant volume of international guests from close-by London Stansted Airport and overseas business people visiting local companies. Mauro Ortelli, operations manager for Marriott Hanbury Manor, described the PRESSPOiNT™ as “a valuable addition to our range of guest services. We anticipate that international travelers will want to keep in touch with how opinion-forming newspapers from home are reporting domestic and world events.”
Newspoint Systems Ltd of Hertford, part of the Lead Media Group, markets the PRESSPOiNT™ in the UK. “Since we first demonstrated the PRESSPOiNT™ at the Hotel & Caterer Show in February the response has been gratifying,” said Newspoint System’s Jonathan Hankin. “Not only do we consider it to be a valuable guest amenity for hotels but it’s installation is equally valid for airports and other international travel termini, exhibition centers and corporate headquarters where there is a need to know quickly what the world’s print media is saying on a particular subject.”
