100 NEWSPAPER TITLES GLOBALLY AVAILABLE: ON TIME AND ON DEMAND
PEPC Worldwide today proudly announced the signing of its 100th newspaper distribution agreement. With the addition of Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, PEPC now digitally distributes the latest editions of 100 newspapers from 44 countries to high traffic, international venues throughout the world. In the previous month Göteborgs-Posten (Sweden), Udayavani (India), Bisnis Indonesia (Indonesia) and Sofia Echo (Bulgaria) joined PEPC. The company’s rapidly expanding Newspaper Publishers Network represents leading titles such as USA Today (USA), Washington Post (USA), Le Figaro and Le Monde (France), Neue Zurcher Zeitung (Switzerland), Die Welt (Germany), De Telegraaf (The Netherlands), Mainichi Shimbun (Japan), Il Giornale (Italy) and El Pais (Spain).
PEPC (Publishers Electronic Printing Concept) presented the 100th participating newspaper this afternoon at the IfraExpo 2002 in Barcelona. “In the previous months we’ve been able to increase the number of participating newspapers tremendously,” says Rob Dorpmans, CEO of PEPC Worldwide. “With the signing of USA Today and the Los Angeles Times we’ve had 70 newspapers on board by the end of April 2002. The addition of 30 newspapers within 6 months reflects the willingness and enthusiasm PEPC’s concept meets within the newspaper industry.”
PEPC provides newspaper publishers access to a new channel of distribution of their national, international and local newspapers. The company digitally distributes, prints and sells the participating newspapers through its global network of interactive vending units (marketed as PRESSPOiNTS). “Our solution allows publishers to distribute their latest edition on a real-time cost-effective basis to locations where they would generally not otherwise distribute their newspaper,” states Rob Dorpmans. “At the same time, the PRESSPOiNT™ addresses the information needs of ‘away from home readers’ no matter where they are in the world.”
PEPC’s Digital Distribution Network – using five satellites – provides Newspaper Vending Units around the globe with latest edition newspapers on a 24/7/365 basis. PEPC’s distribute-then-print model eliminates physical distribution costs thus generating additional revenues and cost-saving opportunities for the participating newspapers. PEPC has currently installed Newspaper Vending Units at international, high traffic venues in 16 countries around the globe.
